Chef de Chemin de Fer (Gerald "Jerry" Brady) Gerald "Jerry" Brady was born on September 22, 1942, in Michigan, Cheboygan County. Attended Inland Lakes School District, graduated from Inland Lakes High School in 1961. I attended Delta Jr. College in Bay City, Michigan, to obtain a degree in Air Conditioning and Heating. I served in the U.S. Air Force, was assigned to a refueling unit. Spent time in Guam and Okinawa, main mission was refueling B-52s. I worked for the City of Ft. Worth, as a Building Engineer, retired from the City on, December 30, 2004. I joined the American Legion in 1967, were I held different elected and appointed offices. I was asked to join the 40/8 in 1989. I have held many positions in this organization, including Grand Chef de Gare, du Texas, Cheminot National, Sous Membership Directeur and Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer. I am married to Karen, I have two daughters, and Karen has three daughters. We have nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Hobby, we both enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, hiking and the outdoors.
Correspondant National (Bernie Sampson) Bernie was born in Woodville, NY on March 29, 1947. He graduated from Belleville High School in 1966 and joined the Marine Corps. He was stationed in Viet Nam where he earned the Purple Heart, Vietnam Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Expert Medal. AMERICAN LEGION SERVICE Bernie joined Don Rounds Post 586 American Legion in 1966 where he has served as Post Finance Officer for over twenty years. Other service and recognition includes:

Bernie is retired from the Marine Corps. He lives in Greenwood, IN with his wife, Terry. They have three grown children and four grandchildren. Bernie has been an active member of the Veteran organizations and a lifetime supporter of the sporting groups in his community. He has been active in Little League, Pop Warner, the Bowling Association, Men's Softball and Tavern Pool League. He is a Paid up for Life member of the American Legion, the VFW, the DAV, and the Marine Corps League. In his "spare time", Bernie is an avid golfer.
Avocat National (national legal counsel) John L. Wiseman is the Forty et Eight’s national legal officer. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1930, Wiseman graduated from High School in Horseheads, NY. He served in the United States Army from 1948-1952. Wiseman worked for Westinghouse Corporation in New York, attended the State University of New York, and was thereafter employed by IBM, where Wiseman was in on the ground floor of computer development at IBM’s Test Laboratories at Endicott, New York. Wiseman later transferred to IBM’s Computer Plant in Boca Raton, Florida, as Product Safety Manger, retiring in 1987. John Wiseman is married to the former Joyce Dean of Horseheads, NY. They have three children; Dawn, Paula and John Jr.; and several grandchildren. Wiseman is a member of American Legion Post 277 of Boca Raton, Florida, where he has served as Judge Advocate (legal officer), Service Officer and several years as Legion Post Commander. In 1999, Wiseman served as the Forty et Eight’s national commander, or “Chef de Chemin de Fer”. Wiseman has also served as Conducteur National and served on several key national committees including; Finance, Time and Place, Voiture Activities, Youth Sports, Organizing and Membership. In Florida, Wiseman served as the Forty et Eight state commander (Grand Chef de Gare) and as state adjutant (Grand Correspondant). Wiseman served as the commander (Chef de Gare) and as Avocat of Voiture Locale 1490. He is currently a member of Florida’s Voiture Locale 954 where he serves as Avocat.
Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer (Pat Beamer) Pat Beamer was born in San Diego, California on October 21, 1945 and raised at a number of Marine Barracks and Bases on the East Coast, graduating high school in Portsmouth, Virginia. He graduated the Naval Academy and was commissioned in the Navy Supply Corps in 1967. His naval service includes duty on 3 ships, both coasts and overseas in Vietnam, Japan, Italy and the Philippines. After 26 years, he retired at the rank of Captain. In addition to his Bachelor's degree, he holds an Associate degree from Northern Virginia Community College and Master's degrees from The University of Michigan and the Naval War College. He began his fraternal service as a charter member of the VFW Ship USS Saigon in 1971. He was reinstated in 1984 and went Life Member in Middletown, RI Post 4487 in 1986. He subsequently transferred to Fernandina Beach, FL Post 4351 where he's been their Commander and currently serves as the Adjutant/Quartermaster. He has also held Florida positions as the District 6 Adjutant/Quartermaster, Assistant State Inspector and State Inspector 2004-2008. He initially joined the American Legion in 1974 at Post 46 in Ann Arbor, MI. He was reinstated to Post 1976 in Annandale, VA in 1978 and transferred to Post 54 in Fernandina Beach, FL in 1994, going PUFL in 1996. He was the Finance Officer 1995 - 2004, Executive Committee 2005, 1st Vice Commander 2006-2009 and currently serves on the Memorial Day Committee. He was wrecked into La Societe in October 1984 by East Duval County Voiture 215, Grande du Florida. He is a Chef de Gare Passe' of V215 and is currently their POW/MIA Directeur. He was voted an Honorary Life Member in V215 in 2006. He was the Grand Chef de Gare 2006, Cheminot Nationale 2008 and currently serves as the Grand Avocat and Grand Ritual Directeur. He is the current General Secretary of the Southland's 40 et 8 Dixie Promenade and a Past Promenade Nationale President. At the National level, he has been a Ritual Committeeman, Sous Directeur Ritual, Ritual Directeur 2004 - 2005 and Membership Directeur 2007 - 2009.
Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer (Barry K. Bovee) D.O.B. 5/18/1946 Wife Linda Entered U.S. Army 1965 and proudly served with the 4th and 25th Infantry Divisions in Vietnam. Upon returning home joined American Legion Post 368, Morenci, MI and has been a continuous member for 43 years. Served most post offices and commander for 3 years. Life member of Amvets Post 1957. Invited to join La Societe in 1992. Served as locale Chef. 1994, Grande Chef. du Michigan 2004, Cheminot Nationale 2005, Conducteur Nationale 2006, Sous Youth Sports Dir. 2008, and Sous Membership Dir. 2009. Retired in 2007 from Adrian Public schools and as a general contractor.
Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer (Preston R. Olson) Preston was born on September 2, 1940 in Estelline, Hamlin County SD. Family moved to Alameda, CA when he was one year old. His father worked as a machinist and received a Civilian Citation for working on Navy ships during WWII. They moved back to the farm west of Hayti, SD where he attended Opdahl # 3 a one room country school. He graduated from Hayti High School May 18, 1958 and joined the U.S. Navy June 20, 1958. Went to basic training (Boot Camp) at the Great Lakes Training Facility. Attend Aviation Prep school in Norman, OK and then Aerographers Mate School and Radiosonde School in Lake Hurst, NJ. I got orders to report aboard the USS Watchmen AGR 16 at Treasure Island, CA its new Home Port. While serving aboard the Watchman I had a Radiosonde that reach what we believed was a record for tracking from a ship of about 135,000 ft. I was discharged from the Navy directly from the USS Watchman September 1, 1961 as an Aerographers Mate 2nd Class. I lived in Norfolk, NE when I got discharged and worked with Lystads Pest Control. I trained in North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska. I became the first Technician stationed in Oklahoma for Lystads moving to Oklahoma City in 1962. Worked for them till 1965 then I moved to Norfolk, NE and started Olson's Pest Technician and we have been protecting man's health and property ever since. I served two terms as President of the Nebraska Pest Control Assn. and four years as Regional Director of the National Pest Control Assn. I was the President of a new Sertoma (Service to Mankind) Chapter in Norfolk, NE. Was Norfolk and District Sertoman of the year, which took in most of SD and NE. I came in 2nd for Regional Setoman of the Year which takes in all the upper Midwest states. I served as a Director then President of Liberty Center which has a Club House and housing for the mentally ill. I was wrecked into La Societe Voiture 121 in northeast Nebraska in 1990. I transferred my membership to Voiture 522 Pierre, SD in 1996. I held most all Locale offices in Voiture 522 including (100% membership) Chef de Gare 2 years. I have also held most offices in Grand du South Dakota inlcuding (100% membership) Chef de Gare in 2008. I have served several years on the South Dakota Nurses Training Foundation Board, President and Aumonier (Chaplain) of Minn-Dakota Assn., Cheminot National, National Sous Americanism Directeur 2003, National Sous Directeur of Special Awards 2004-2007 and Aumonier Nationale in 2009. I enjoy hunting, boating, snowmobiling and serving La Societe. I also spend a lot of time with my family which include two sons a daughter who are all married and have two children each. I am a life member of La Societe des Quarante Hommes Huit Chevaux and the American Legion and have served as Vice Commander and on Membership and House Committee of American Legion Post 16 Norfolk, NE. Commander of Post 3 Chamberlain, SD, McCook County Commander, Brule County Commander, District 6 Vice Commander and District Rehabilitation Director.
